FWLD conducted a Regional Networking Meeting and Training for Monitoring Civic Awareness Campaign on The Constituent Assembly from 1 – 2 June 2007. The meeting was conducted mainly to analyze the progress of ongoing program of 19 districts of Nepal . The training was provided to all the 19 District Coordinators about the Monitoring Civic Awareness Campaign on the Constituent Assembly.
FWLD together with other esteemed organizations conducted a Third Anti- Domestic Violence campaign on 3 June 2007 in Mandala, Matighar demanding for the formulation and the enactment of a new anti-domestic violence law in Nepal .
FWLD conducted a Network Meeting with the Network Members on HIV & AIDS on 17 May 2007 to finalize the Draft Bill on HIV & AIDS.
FWLD conducted a meeting with Implementing Agencies on HIV & AIDS on 4 June 2007. This meeting was conducted mainly to share FWLD's Activities and to brief them about the HIV & AIDS law.
FWLD will be conducting a meeting with the Policy Champions on "HIV &AIDS" on 19 June 2007. This meeting will be conducted mainly to inform them about the current HIV & AIDS situation in Nepal and to sensitize them about the need for a specific law on HIV &AIDS.
FWLD conducted a residential "Training of Trainers (TOT) on the CEDAW Convention and the Constituent Assembly" on 30 April – 5 May, 2007 in Dhankuta , Nepal . Participants were women lawyers from the districts, namely: Sunsari, Morang, Jhapa, Illam and Dhankuta.
The main objectives of the ToT were:
- To create a conceptual understanding of the CEDAW convention and its Optional Protocol
- To inform about the reporting mechanism and the state obligation under the CEDAW Convention
- To create a conceptual understanding of Constitutionalism and the Constitutional Assembly
- To inform about Federalism
- To create awareness about the formation of the Constitutional Assembly and the Electoral process
- To fortify the participants' capacity to conduct trainings on CEDAW convention
Forum for Women Law and Development (FWLD) together with Maiti Nepal, Nepal Law Campus, The Daywalka Foundation, Lawyers & Lawyers Associates, CREHPA, World Vision, Nepal Bank, Kathmandu School of Law, Cellrd, THT, CWAD, Nepal Eye Hospital, Om Hospital and Research Center, JCDF, ANA, CAC Nepal, NIDSAP International, NWC, Jagaran Nepal, other individuals (including FWLD's clients) and media conducted their second crusade for the formulation and the enactment of anti-domestic violence law in Mandala, Maitighar on Tuesday, May 1 2007 (Baisakh 18, 2064). A total of 54 participants participated in the campaign. |
