Combating Violence Against Women
Eliminating violence against women is one of our radical concerns. Women in Nepal have been subjected to innumerable brutal violence and tortures, and for that matter, violence against women is sometimes attributed to the often-self-doubting Nepalese women as the major cause of their insecurities and submissiveness.
Everyone can perceive that women are intentionally treated as sub-humans in Nepal . Women are abused – both physically and verbally, discriminated and coerced to confront gender-based violence. They face violence like battery, rape/marital rape, sexual harassment, domestic violence, trafficking and bigamy/polygamy within the community. Violence in women is seen in their own homes, in politics, in workplaces like restaurants, hotels, police, army, private and government offices, law courts and even in the refugee camps. Women belonging to the Dalit community face similarly nasty caste-based discrimination and violence and there is nothing the sate can do about.
Absolute eradication of violence against every single woman in Nepal is our prior concern and increasing awareness about women's rights, empowering them in the society and providing them a much-progressive life is one of our foremost goals.
We believe that every woman has the right to life and we therefore ascertain any sort of discrimination in women (by conducting researches and fact findings) and try and solve the problem especially by appealing through Public Interest Litigations and make legal reformations and sometimes, personally handling the victim's case in order to earn justice.
