Anti-Rape/Marital Rape

Many women, girls and children all over the world have suffered sexual assault and yet some fail to report such crimes, especially in a country like Nepal where women put a veil to their troubles for the fear of embarrassment, disgrace and shame. There have been cases where the perpetrator has committed crimes like rape and have been acquitted of their involvement leaving the victim with no justice and dejection.

Innumerable women in Nepal are unaware about forced sexual intercourse in their marriages, also known as Marital or Spousal Rape. Marital rape is not paid much heed to in Nepal as women are considered as the husband's possessions once she is married. Repercussions of marital rapes are extreme. Women submit to their husband's demand for sex, suppressing their own repulsion and stifling their self-esteem. Women are still treated as an object for sex and have to yield to their husband's insistence for sex even if she is aware of him being HIV positive and hence are the victims of HIV&AIDS themselves.

FWLD intends to help women who are the victims of rape by thoroughly analyzing the case and providing significant legal counseling and in turn help them acquire justice.
