Reproductive and Sexual Health Rights

Reproductive health right is one of the basic human rights of women. The enjoyment of this right is vital for their life and their ability to participate in all areas. After continuous efforts of civil societies and international pressure to the government, the Eleventh Amendment of the Country Code providing the right to abortion to women has been passed. It also criminalizes sex-based abortion. Though the new law is a great achievement for the Nepali women, it is not sufficient to protect women's reproductive rights. There is greater need of effective implementation of the law.

FWLD is continuously working for the issue on reproductive and sexual health and rights of women and girls in Nepal and has been conducting major researches to assess the underlying problems and striving to filling up the gaps that exists in the law and effectively enforce the laws that already exist.
