Gender-Friendly Environment in the Workplace
FWLD in conjunction with The Asia Foundation conducted a study examining the current status of gender-friendly environment in the workplace and the implementation of the special measures in Kathmandu and Biratnagar in the year 2005. A component of Sexual Harassment – a problem in the workplace, is also encompassed in the study.
The Scope and Purpose of the Study were:
The Main Purpose
To examine the status of gender friendly working environment.
Other Specific Purposes
To examine the implementation of the Labor laws with special reference to the Special Measures for women provided by the laws.
To examine the existing policies and international human rights instruments relevant to ensuring women's economic rights.
To identify how employers in different workplaces perceive women's participation at work and also collect recommendations from them to enhance women's economic participation in various employment sectors.
To identify the challenges women face in workplaces and provide recommendations to address these challenges.
To provide recommendations for creating gender friendly environment in the workplaces.
