Trainings on legal awareness on Violence Against Women

A three-day training programme was conducted under the project "Combating Gender Based Violence During Pregnancy Project" of Family Planning Association of Nepal (FPAN) on August 13 -15, 2006 at Butwal of Rupandehi district. There were 21 participants involved in the trainingwho belonged to the Makawanpur, Dhanusha, Rupandehi, Nawalparasi and Sarlahi district (FPAN branch office) respectively. The training programme aimed to provide legal knowledge on gender based violence to project staff including one FPAN member from each branch office.

The objectives of the training were:

  • To enhance staff capability on legal issues
  • To enhance participants' knowledge on women's rights and women empowerment
  • To make the participants capable to communicate updated legal information and provision to community people and survivors
